Holidays – 4 Ways To Avoid Weight Gain

I know… I know… It’s the holidays.

Winter holidays. A time where everyone is hosting office potlucks, family gatherings, company holiday parties, and baked goods.

This is a very fun time of the year. It’s the time when the normal “hustle and bustle” of life slows down – a very peaceful time. But, it’s also the time of year that you can potentially ruin all the hard work you’ve done with your health and fitness.

The holidays are a great time to relax and spend time with family. You also get to spend some time with your coworkers in a different setting. But!

Be a Party Pooper

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could attend every party you’re invited to? But, you don’t have to attend them all. Make sure when you attend an event, make it about the event and not about the food.

Just Say No

Holidays or no – this is one of the worst excuses I hear. “I ate 3 slices of cake at work because I couldn’t tell my friend NO”.  Why not? You can decline an offer and still be polite. Trust me, “no thank you” works fine.

“See Food”

You will be surrounded by temptation.  Don’t give into the temptation. You don’t have to eat something just because it’s there.  I know it’s easier said than done. If you find yourself weakening, drink some water.

Don’t Skip Your Workouts

Don’t cancel your session with your trainer or skip your normal class to attend your office holiday party.  Your session or class is one hour. Holiday functions generally last for 3-4hrs.  You can still do both. Leave the party early or get there a little late.
