I Hate Clean Eating Confession

I hate eating clean

Do I hate eating clean, no. I know I have to eat that way to feel the way I do, and sometimes I wish that wasn’t true.

Now I don’t miss all the food that I used to eat. I used to drink a lot of soda and eat way too much candy – most times at the same time (washing down sour gummy worms with a 20oz bottle of Coca Cola). The thought of that makes me cringe right now. I was working out 2-3 times a week, but I wasn’t even close to being my best.

I eat a gluten free diet now, by choice. Aside from some pretty disgusting gluten-free breads (and some that were pretty good), I haven’t eaten bread in almost 4yrs. Giving up bread and wheat was a big adjustment to my lifestyle, but it was worth it. Although I have to admit that the smell of fresh baked bread is wonderful – but not tempting. What’s my motivation?

Looking at the stuff the food manufacturers are trying to pass of as “food” is all the motivation I need for clean eating. The next time your in the grocery store, pick up a random item and read the label. So what is this clean eating? It simply means eating diet that limits or eliminates processed foods, whether moderately processed or fully processed. Instead eating mostly lean proteins (meat, poultry, fish), plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts & seeds, and drinking plenty water.

If that sounds boring, it’s not. You can eat clean and still enjoy plenty of flavor and variety. You don’t have to limit yourself to just eating salad. I really enjoy the food I eat. And, although I haven’t had a soda in about 10 years I still enjoy some candy on my cheat days.
